FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why is the brand called "House of Mogra"?

Mogra (jasmine) is deeply woven into Bengali memory and ritual from the scent in the evening air to flowers worn in the hair during celebrations. We named ourselves after it because, like the flower, we wanted our sarees to feel personal and lingering rather than loud - beauty that's felt more than announced.

What makes House of Mogra sarees different from other saree brands?

We focus on understated elegance over heavy embellishment. Our sarees use soft, breathable fabrics, a muted and earthy color palette, and fine handcrafted detailing rather than maximum ornamentation. Each piece is designed to feel personal and wearable for everyday moments, not just grand occasions.

Are your sarees handwoven? Who makes them?

Yes. Our sarees are created using traditional techniques like handloom weaving, block printing, and regional embroidery, made by skilled artisans across India. We work closely with weaving clusters that carry generational expertise in styles like Banarasi, Chanderi, and Bengal cotton — so every piece reflects real craftsmanship, not mass production.

Can I wear a House of Mogra saree for everyday occasions, not just weddings or festivals?

Absolutely, that's exactly the idea. While we do offer rich festive weaves, many of our sarees are designed in lightweight, comfortable fabrics specifically so they can be worn often, not just saved for special days. We believe sarees belong in daily life, not just in trunks.

I'm new to wearing sarees. Will your fabrics be comfortable for long hours?

Yes. Comfort is one of our biggest design priorities. We use soft cottons, linens, and organza blends that drape easily and breathe well, making them especially suited for first-time saree wearers or anyone wearing one for an extended period.

What kind of design aesthetic can I expect - is it more traditional or modern?

A blend of both. Our sarees stay rooted in classic draping traditions and regional weaving techniques, but we pair them with contemporary blouse designs, modern styling ideas, and a quieter, more current color palette. The result feels timeless rather than dated - heritage with a modern sensibility.
